The United States Space Force has revealed details of its brand new, black, and silver logo.
This follows an earlier controversial release by President Donald Trump who shared details of an initial design that sparked an outcry amongst Star Trek fans who claimed the US Space Force logo was a rip-off of that of Star Fleet.
Released from the Pentagon in Washington D.C. on Wednesday 22 July 2020, the motto “Semper Supra” translates from Latin as Always Above. The U.S. Space Force graphic was created by Staff Sgt. James Richardson.
The logo features a Delta shape intended to “honor the heritage of the United States Air Force and Space Command” and it has been used by space organizations since 1961.
The silver outer border signifies the defense and protection from threats emanating from the space domain, whilst the black area inside symbolises the vast darkness of space.
