Sexuality & Social Work Conference 2021

The Sexuality & Social Work Special Interest Group (SIG) is a collaborative network of social work academics, practitioners, students, service users, and carers that aims to strengthen the knowledge base surrounding sexuality issues in social work practice, education, and research. Since its formation in 2004, the group has focused on providing a safe forum for discussions, sharing research and teaching ideas, supporting each other’s work, and contributing to collaborative research and publications.

The SIG has made significant strides in raising awareness of the importance of sexuality issues in social work, hosting conferences and producing special issues in social work journals. These efforts have helped integrate the topic of sexuality into social work education and practice.

The group has expanded its membership internationally since 2013, now including members from various countries such as Western Europe, the Middle East, Canada, the U.S., and Australia. Many members are also leaders in advancing research and scholarship on sexuality.

Currently co-chaired by Alfonso Pezzella from Middlesex University, UK, and Dr. Melissa Bird, a social worker from the U.S., the SIG remains committed to fostering international collaborations and furthering the integration of sexuality issues into social work.

The brief

To create a series of promotional materials, including flyers and brochures, to effectively market the Sexuality & Social Work Special Interest Group’s Online International Conference 2021. The materials should capture attention, reflect the group’s values, and align with the SIG’s established branding guidelines. These materials will be used to attract global participation from social work and healthcare professionals, academics, students, service users, and other stakeholders.

  • Modern & Engaging: The materials should be fresh and contemporary, using design elements that reflect the dynamic and forward-thinking nature of the SIG. They should balance professionalism with accessibility, ensuring the content is easy to read and visually engaging.
  • Global Appeal: Given the international scope of the conference, the design should appeal to a diverse audience, considering cultural nuances and ensuring inclusivity in imagery and language.
  • Clear Call to Action: All materials should include a clear and prominent call to action, such as “Register Now” or “Join the Conversation”, guiding participants toward registration and engagement.
